Bo Hodges Transfers to Butler. Is ETSU Serious About Winning?

The Buccaneers’ decisions since Steve Forbes’ departure have not been conducive to continuing the path of becoming a mid-major power.

Bo Hodges transferring to Butler is a bitter pill for ETSU Buccaneers fans to swallow.

Hodges would have been ETSU’s leading returning scorer in 2020–21

It is now difficult to envision the 2020–21 Bucs repeating as Southern Conference champions. Without Hodges, and with point guard Daivien Williamson all but departed, new head coach Jason Shay will almost assuredly have to field a team with no returning starters.

The cupboard isn’t bare, but the team’s success is now based on ifs.

  • If guard Patrick Good can be 100 percent healthy and exceed his career high scoring average of 10 points in a season.
  • If 7–0 Octavian Corley can be an impact in the middle after sitting on the bench the previous season. After all, there is a big difference between transferring from Oklahoma State, as Corley’s predecessor Lucas N’Guessan did, and Casper College.
  • If Ledarrius Brewer can develop in to even more of a go-to player after averaging 14 points a game at Southeast Missouri State.
