Boston Bruins the Pick To Win the Stanley Cup

Today the Stanley Cup Finals between Boston and St. Louis begins.

It’s a matchup of two hot goalies, Boston’s Tuuka Rask and St. Louis’ Jordan Binnington.

Rask has been unbelievable and is the front runner for the Conn Smythe Award right now, posting a .942 save percentage through the playoffs.

No wonder nobody’s scoring on Rask. Who wants to get close to that mask?

But Binnington has been the force in the Blues’ resurgence to the Stanley Cup. When he was called up from the American Hockey League on Dec. 8, the Blues were one point away from having the worst record in the NHL.

There’s a strong argument that can be made for Binnington as this season’s Vezina Trophy winner.

Now they’re in the Stanley Cup Finals. And nearly beat out the Nashville Predators for the Central Division championship, finishing only a point behind them after an impressive 35–14–5 conclusion to the regular season.

The Bruins come in to the series somewhat banged up, but one figures with 10 days off after sweeping the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference Finals they’ll be healthy.

One notable exception is center Chris Wagner, who is expected to miss the series after leading the Bruins in hits this season with 247.
