Does the Tennessee Volunteers’ football team have the best coaching staff in the country?

That’s what Jeremy Pruitt says, or rather what he says “a lot of people say” without identifying the people who say Tennessee has the best coaching staff in the country.

Which is likely the people in the Tennessee football offices.

Not known for his quotes, Pruitt may have just given the most memorable one of his career.

Regardless, it’s something he has to say to justify their salaries. Or rather Jim Chaney’s who makes more annually ($1.6 million) than any offensive coordinator in the history of college football.

This is not to say the Vols’ staff is not good. While I haven’t seen them operate up front, doesn’t having the quarterback who led Tennessee to their last national championship, a former offensive coordinator at Southern California who interviewed for the Oakland Raiders’ head coaching job, seem like a coup?

This coach is wide receivers coach Tee Martin. Who better to say “you can do it here” than someone who has?
