Does the USWNT’s Boorishness Outweigh Their Intelligence?

The United States Women’s National Soccer Team has become so arrogant their own country can’t stand them.

Do not think the discomfort with the USWNT is totally comprised of cranky conservative types who like their athletes to shut up and play.

Prior to the game, Newsweek’s Dan Cancian wrote a story entitled “AMERICAN SOCCER TEAM IS ‘SO ARROGANT’ EVEN THE FRENCH WANT ENGLAND TO WIN.”

Why? On many accounts, the USWNT should be a team that champions the best of America.

Sports are about your stats, not your sexuality, but isn’t it time in a free country gay athletes be able to not cower in fear over who they are?

So what is the difference between USWNT defender Ali Kreiger dating goalie Ashlyn Harris and, say, Danica Patrick dating Aaron Rodgers?

Megan Rapinoe’s quote of “you can’t win a championship without gays on your team, it’s pretty much never been done before, ever. Science right there” makes us think. We may not agree, but we think.

Is she speaking of only women’s athletics? Or male sports as well, which has a different culture?

What about pay equality? Yes, pay equality becomes a tough sell to, say, a restaurateur who pays their waiters just as much as their waitresses, and when revenues are considered it’s tough to suggest the WNBA player receive as much as their NBA counterparts because of equal effort.
