ETSU Basketball Is Only Getting Stronger

The Buccaneers are in first place and adding immediate new talent to their roster.

Don’t look now but the East Tennessee State Buccaneers (9–5, 5–1) are not only in first place in the Southern Conference but are adding new players to their contemporary roster.

Sadaidriene “Day Day” Hall won’t be in the starting lineup when ETSU hosts The Citadel (9–4, 2–4) but does figure to add needed depth on the post. The 6–5, 200-pound freshman from Sulphur Springs, Texas scored more than 1,300 points in high school and will be eligible to play immediately.

Am I the only one making the connection between Sulphur Springs, TX and nearby Sulphur Springs, TN?

But how ETSU does underneath the boards might not be as important as how well the Buccaneers defend the perimeter when they host The Citadel Saturday, January 30 at 4 pm. ETSU is an 10 1/2 point favorite after opening at -11 1/2.

The Citadel actually put ETSU in first place in the SoCon, which currently has the ninth best RPI rating among the 32 major college basketball conferences, by virtue of their 77–68 victory against Wofford (9–5, 6–2) on Wednesday.
