More Questions Than Answers Concerning the ETSU Basketball Anthem Protest
It wasn’t even the first time the Bucs’ knelt this season, and why aren’t the players speaking for themselves?
East Tennessee State men’s basketball coach Jason Shay’s explanation of his team’s pregame kneeling for the national anthem not only doesn’t cut it, but demands additional explanation.
Prior to their 53–51 loss at Chattanooga on Monday, the Buccaneers, collectively as a team, knelt for the Star Spangled Banner.
Incredibly, according to the Johnson City Press, this was the third road game ETSU had knelt, but it had been entirely ignored by media outlets covering ETSU until WJHL-TV filmed and reported it on Monday.
But not until now, following the Bucs’ 70–64 loss to Mercer, has Shay remarked on it.
