Revisiting “Could ETSU Beat Tennessee Next Basketball Season?”
Sadly, it’s unlikely we’ll find out.
Now that Tennessee has officially picked up Uros Plavsic, it’s just a matter of time to see if he is granted a waiver and play immediately for Rick Barnes after transferring from Arizona State’s men’s basketball team.
If he can, the 7-footer will give the Vols much needed help on the boards.
According to Rocky Top Talk, he’s already 7–1. Plavsic has either grown an inch or a sympathetic website has naively latched on to his high school height and weight, often exaggerated to attract the attention of recruiters, in a blatant example of fan boy reporting.
Regardless, let’s just say Plavsic can play for the Vols next season.
ETSU would still defeat Tennessee as it stands now because they have better players in the paint.
Landing Plavsic appears to be a result of a player who played high school ball in Chattanooga who couldn’t cut the lineup at Arizona State coming home, or at least an area he’s more familiar with being a native of Serbia.
Meanwhile ETSU could throw not only the nation’s eighth leading rebounder in Jeromy Rodriguez, but fellow 7-footers Lucan N’Guessan and Octovian Corley.
