No press release. No advancement to better jobs. No replacements named.

Last week’s report ETSU men’s basketball assistant coaches Joe Hugley, Isaiah Tisdale and Rob Peterson had left head coach Brooks Savage’s staff was kept hush-hush.

There was no press release given; the story was reported by WJHL’s Kenny Hawkins.

There were no replacements named. Unless one wants to say being the associate head coach at a junior college is superior to being a Division I assistant, none have left for superior positions in the field.

And if being the associate head coach at Garden City Community College, whose exploits on the hardwood are reported by a sports information director with press releases to the weekly newspaper, pays better than ETSU, something is wrong.

All of the coaches leaving had extensive backgrounds at ETSU. Hugley and Tisdale were former Buccaneers basketball players, while Peterson’s father Buzz was an ETSU assistant during their “Glory Days” of the early 1990s and was a finalist for Bucs head coach in 1996.
