Tennessee’s Basketball Coaching Situations Resolved- What It Means For the Vols & Even ETSU
For one thing, another visit to Freedom Hall from the Vols doesn’t seem eminent since Rick Barnes has said he won’t play ETSU in Johnson City again.
Tennessee fans, and by extension ETSU fans, are likely rejoicing Rick Barnes is not leaving the Volunteers to accept the men’s head basketball coaching position at UCLA.
But the fact is Barnes to UCLA was not a good fit.
This is Los Angeles. Look at the suits Murry Bartow wore as UCLA coach as compared to ETSU. To be the coach at UCLA you need style, personality, flair
Barnes isn’t that. Barnes is a somewhat stoic 64-year-old coach not known for doing well in the NCAA Tournament.
When it was announced he was a candidate at UCLA, Mark Whicker of the Los Angeles Daily News initial response was to say he preferred Becky Hammon.
