The 10 Things ETSU Athletic Director Scott Carter Should Have Said to Erik Ainge
Instead of the nothing burger statement he did.
East Tennessee State athletic director Scott Carter isn’t a bad guy.
But he made a bad statement to Erik Ainge this summer, or at least one that appeared cliched at best and maybe even a bit disturbing at worse.
Carter, appearing on The Erik Ainge Show, a Knoxville-based sports talk show that has in recent months been aired live in the Tri-Cities as well, said he “wanted to build great relationships” going forward at ETSU in an interview with the former Tennessee Volunteers-quarterback turned talk show host.
The soundbite has been replayed in the Tri-Cities on promotional spots in the time following the early-spring interview.
But the more one listens to the quote, the more one realizes Carter is saying nothing at all.
While an athletic director speaking in positive clichés is not news, especially at ETSU, that‘s why one wonders why the quote has been highlighted so much by the Bucs’ flagship radio station.
