UCLA is a Better Basketball Program Than Tennessee. How is this News?

Are there really fans out there that somehow think the Tennessee men’s basketball coaching job is superior than UCLA’s?

The reason why Rick Barnes is such a successful head men’s basketball coach just became apparent.

In a sport rife with corruption, he’s honest.

Coaching at UCLA is a dream for any coach, and had the Bruins been willing to spend just a little more money to buy out Barnes’ contract, he’d be their coach.

If that would have happened, as Barnes himself said, “I think I would have been the coach at UCLA.”

Is this really a surprise; a shocker?

Barnes spoke of his admiration for John Wooden to reporters on Tuesday.

And if so, why? The same could be said for Texas Christian’s Jamie Dixon, who, unlike Barnes, was willing to leave his alma mater for the Bruins.

Barnes has no such ties to Tennessee. Barnes has a team that will be a shadow of what they were this year with little post production returning and Jordan Bone leaving.

Yes, UCLA hasn’t made the Final Four in 11 seasons. Even with that drought, UCLA is the program with the most national championships.

That trumps a program that’s never been to the Final Four.
