With No Fall Football Season, What Happens to ETSU Safety Tyree Robinson?
He’s a legitimate NFL prospect. Showcasing his skills during his senior season would have likely boosted his chances. Now, does he even play another game for the Buccaneers?
Tyree Robinson is likely the best player to suit up for the ETSU football team since the program was reinstated in 2015.
Ranked as the top player in the Southern Conference by Jim Johnson of southernpigskin.com prior to his junior season, in his sophomore campaign Robinson’s SoCon leading six interceptions, including two dramatic picks in a memorable 26–22 victory at The Citadel, guided the Buccaneers to their first conference championship in 37 seasons, and he even suited up as a freshman, where by the end of the season he was the second-leading tackler on the field.
Robinson is a legitimate NFL prospect, and therein lies his dilemma.
Robinson’s status as a future pro likely depended on having another big season and then an NFL Combine producing a 40-time closer to his best (4.38) than his worst (4.57).
But now, with the Southern Conference announcing they will not play football in the fall and “hoping” to postpone their football season until the spring because of COVID-19 fears, where does that leave Robinson?
